Job Description
How will you fight for an AIDS-free generation?
The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) is seeking a Financial Analyst to join its team in Yaoundé.
Reporting to the Grant Manager, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for coordinating a range of financial planning and analysis activities, including budget development, financial forecasting, and the preparation of detailed financial reports. This role plays a critical part in ensuring financial integrity and strategic decision-making across EGPAF’s Cameroon portfolio.
To succeed in this position, the Financial Analyst will collaborate closely with various internal stakeholders, including Country and Associate Directors, Accounting and Program teams, Awards & Compliance staff, and the Financial Planning & Analysis unit at EGPAF headquarters in Washington, D.C.
No two days are alike at EGPAF, but what can you expect in this role?
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Budget Management
- Develop and manage budgets for both projects and shared services, including proposal budgets, budget narratives, annual project-specific budgets, monthly costed work plans, and other specialized budgets.
- Prepare quarterly revised project management budgets that reflect current spending patterns by line item.
- When necessary, prepare budget realignments for donor review and approval.
- Support the development of specialized costing activities such as monthly costed work plans, event budgets, and shared services budgets.
- Prepare budget revisions and respond to donor inquiries related to budget matters.
- Provide accurate financial data to headquarters for inclusion in the organization’s corporate budget.
- Collaborate closely with program teams to develop costed work plans and budgets by geographic area, program focus, and/or facility.
Pipeline Management:
- Ensure real-time tracking of actual expenditures against approved budget lines, incorporating cash expenses, obligations, and ongoing commitments—with particular attention to commitments not yet recorded as expenses.
- Conduct detailed financial forecasting for all projects by combining historical data with known future costs to anticipate periodic pipeline positions.
- Hold at least monthly documented pipeline review meetings with each project lead to share budget-versus-actual positions, agree on corrective actions, and follow up to ensure timely implementation, preventing significant budget overruns or underspending.
- Confirm budget availability prior to major commitments such as procurements, sub-recipient obligations, or key recruitments.
- Support the procurement department and the Program teams in developing and monitoring annual procurement plans to ensure spending remains within approved limits during implementation.
- Assist the grants team in creating realistic forecasts for sub-recipients to enable accurate tracking of actual expenses against obligated funds.
- Provide ad hoc forecasts and scenario analyses as new information becomes available, such as changes in donor-approved funding.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly financial reports for management decision making
- Track due dates and prepare donor financial reports when due
- Present complex financial reports to varied audiences
- Perform periodic and annual (PEPFAR) expenditure analysis reporting
- Support any internal or external driven cost analysis initiatives:
o Forecasting
o Funding Scenario Analysis
o Alerting appropriate staff of potential funding shortfalls and/or significant underspend
- Perform financial analysis including:
o Expenditure analysis allocations
o Expenditure and outlays reporting
o Financial forecasting and burn rate analysis
Qualifications
To be successful, you will need to have:
Required qualifications:
- Master’s degree in business related field
- Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA), will be an added advantage
- Demonstrated experience using automated budget management software
- Strong Excel, Word, Access & Power Point Proficiency
- Demonstrated Finance Management (5 years minimum) role in in Corporate / NGO role
- Demonstrated financial analysis experience (5 years minimum) in a complex corporate / NGO environment

- Ability to clearly communicate financial information to non-financial colleagues
