Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of data usage across MTN Products and Business Units.
  • Identify and escalate potential privacy and data protection concerns based on risk and operational impact. 
  • Operationalize daily privacy functions like record of processing activities, privacy impact assessments, cookies compliance, and data subject requests.
  • Work with key business stakeholders to complete Privacy Impact Assessments and other privacy reviews related to products, technologies, and vendors.
  • Serve as privacy subject matter expert, particularly regarding the privacy laws and regulations that apply to MTNC business technology platforms. 
  • Collaborate with the Risk and Compliance team, legal department and multiple partners in other business units to build a resilient, scalable privacy programme. 
  • Identify operational privacy and data protection concerns from a Technology perspective and furnish efficient solutions. 
  • Facilitate compliance with privacy and data protection laws by MTN’s business partners from a Technology perspective.
  • Guide product and development teams to incorporate privacy by design.
  • Support both the Incident Response teams by responding to privacy events and incidents as necessary.
  • Engage and support procurement in the negotiation of privacy and data protection-relevant contract terms for both clients and vendors.
  • Continuously seek to develop, improve, and streamline efficient, scalable, and resilient privacy and data protection processes, tools, and procedures, including maintaining useful documentation.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments, the privacy practices of peer companies, relevant privacy and data protection frameworks, and best practices in general.
  • Identify evolving privacy risks inherent in MTN’s operations and the development of new products and services.
  • Analyse and reports on data privacy risks, and compliance adherence and escalates concerns or issues as required. 
  • Collaborate with local enabling functions (e.g. Information Security, Legal and Regulatory, and Risk and Compliance) and help them understand their personal data privacy responsibilities. 
  • Respond to internal and external personal data privacy escalations quickly, proficiently and professionally while meeting specific quality expectations. 

Qualifications

Education:

  • IT, Project Management, Business degree, Legal (Bachelor, Master’s or equivalent).
  • Any other degree may be considered if studies included privacy or data protection related disciplines.
  • A certification in Data Privacy will be an added advantage.

Experience:

  • 3 – 5 years of experience in relevant field.
  • Knowledge in Cameroon and European data protection laws and regulations.
  • Data privacy or information security experience including data incident management.
